Stephen Daldry

Artistic Director 1992-1998.

Stephen was Artistic Director of the Royal Court, 1992-1998. Before that, he was Artistic Director of the Gate Theatre, 1989-1992 and the Metro Theatre Company, 1984-1986. He was made a CBE in 2006 and is a Trustee of the Old Vic Theatre.

His stage production of Billy Elliot the Musical, by Lee Hall with music by Elton John, has won over 72 awards worldwide including 10 Tony awards in 2009. It is currently playing in London, on Broadway and in Chicago and is about to open in Japan, South Korea and on a US National Tour.
