The Royal Court is a registered charity (231242) and relies on the generosity of individuals, companies and charitable foundations to make all of its work, on stage and off, happen.

Your donation can support many different elements of the Royal Court’s work – from education to writers groups, through to play readings, festivals and productions.
All that we do with writers comes under the banner of the Writers Development Fund. We spend nearly as much on our play development activities as we do on the productions you see on our stages. Our work behind the scenes is absolutely crucial to discovering the best new writers and to getting their plays produced.
This work is the backbone of the Royal Court and makes an enormous contribution to British theatre as a whole; many writers who once honed their talents here are now produced on stages throughout the world and studied in schools, colleges and universities.
The Writers Development Fund encompasses the work of the Literary Department and its un-matched commitment to read and respond to over 3,000 scripts every year; the remit of the Studio to practically develop and realise the freshest ideas; and the global reach of the International Department, which travels across five continents to empower the voices of writers across the world.
