The Royal Court Theatre presents
Over Gardens Out
By Peter Gill
First Performance: 5 August 1969
Theatre Upstairs
Over Gardens Out was the first real success to come out of the Theatre Upstairs, shortly after it opened in 1969. A short, intimate study of family life, the play took advantage of the new possibilities afforded by the flexible studio space, with a succession of short scenes unfolding between the continuous crossfire of two television sets. Its unconventional staging was praised by critics.
