About the Café Bar
The Café Bar is a lively meeting place for audiences, writers, directors, actors and the general public. Set within the 19th Century auditorium pit, it occupies a space steeped in history. High vaulted ceilings with natural light pouring in through glass pavement blocks make a welcome addition to the original theatre’s cramped public spaces.
Food is locally and ethically sourced and we pride ourselves on the fact that we use reputable and award winning suppliers. Cured meats, oils and olives from Brindisa; meat from Smithfield Market and cheese from Neal’s Yard Dairy all combine to create a menu that appeals and inspires.
Our comprehensive and seasonal wine list has been carefully selected by leading London wine merchant, Bibendum. Our fully-functioning bar serves a wide range of beers and spirits to suit every taste.
The bar itself also offers savoury treats such as quiches, tortillas and sausage rolls, perfect for a quick bite or to cure hunger pangs. During the day, you will also find a selection of cakes to complement our wide range of Twinings tea and Puro Fairtrade coffee.
For something more substantial, choose from our full menu. Served daily from 12pm until 8pm, it changes regularly and offers seasonal British food inspired by the comforts of home cooking. Ideal for a pre-theatre meal or for those with a little more time. A sample menu is available to download on the left-hand side of this page.

When you open a French wine, you open the door to a universe of discovery, for when it comes to making wine, France has both history on its side, and something to suit every palate and every pocket. The source of this variety lies in the many different wine-growing regions of France.
The cool climate of northern France favours the production of whites, from Champagne to Alsace, a terrific source of aromatic wines.
Along the Loire, you’ll find lively, perfumed reds, zesty whites and sparklings, fresh rosés and luscious sweets.
Burgundy is known for its elegant whites. There are also silky reds made from Pinot Noir or the fresh Beaujolais Gamays.
Bordeaux is famous for its sophisticated reds, textured whites and honeyed sweeties.
France’s south-west is a patchwork of appellations where you’re bound to find a style you like.
The northern Rhône wines are mainly made from Syrah whilst further south, you’ll taste hearty reds made from a blend of grapes – and don’t forget this region’s rosés and whites too.
Provence is the home of dry rosés, but also produces some fantastic red and white wines. Corsica has big and bold wines due to its much hotter, drier climate.
The Languedoc-Roussillon area is one of the largest of all the country’s wine regions offering fruity whites, balanced rosés, full-bodied spicy reds, great sparkling and sweet wines.
Whatever kind of wine you prefer, there’s a French wine to suit every occasion and any budget. And remember, when you put a splash of French in your glass, you’re beginning a wonderful and exciting voyage of discovery.
