Returns

The Royal Court operates a waiting list for returns from one hour before each performance. At this time a list of names will be taken, and the queue dispersed until a time closer to the performance. Returned tickets will then be offered, in order, to those people on the list. Customers who arrive after the list has been taken are welcome to join the queue, and will be added to the end of the list.

(Although we will not begin the list until an hour before the performance, we will honour any queue that forms in our foyer beforehand, so for popular shows it may be advisable to arrive early.)

It is essential to be at the Royal Court in-person to join our waiting list. We cannot offer any places via telephone or email, or start the list any earlier than one hour before the performance. Customers on the list can wait for up to 2 tickets each.

We cannot offer any guarantee that customers who join the waiting list will be successful in obtaining tickets. We are reliant upon other customers returning their unwanted tickets, which does not happen for every performance. Neither can we advise on any pattern to returned tickets: it’s no more likely for a matinee than for an evening, for instance, or for a Monday over a Saturday.

Please note that all returned tickets will be sold at full price, at their original face value; we will not be able to offer concessions or honour any discounts/promotions on returned seats.

There may be further options for booking tickets to sold out performances. £10 Monday tickets will be released on the day of the performance, and standing places for productions in the Jerwood Theatre Downstairs will be released one hour before every performance.
